An Evening of Kirtan

Kirtan is an ancient form of meditation practiced in bhakti-yoga, the Yoga of Devotion. One of the oldest sacred music traditions of the world, the kirtan call-and-response chanting uses ancient Sanskrit mantras, musical instruments, and ragas (melodies) to quiet the mind and connect us to our divine source. While chanting alone can have the same effect, live chanting with musicians and many participants increases the spiritual energy and ecstasy.

Kirtan is for everyone. There is no religious belief, cultural background, or musical ability required. Your willingness to hear and chant, or dance if the spirit moves you, is all you need. The focus of kirtan is on the mantras, sacred sound vibrations that purify our minds and hearts and allow us to experience something sublime. Please call EBN to reserve your spot @ (336) 373-0733. Held at the back of the shop. $5 love donation.

Deborah Warren (Mamata) has been singing Indian devotional music for over 35 years and has led kirtan in many places in the U.S. and Canada. She currently resides in Sandy Ridge, North Carolina, and performs kirtan around the Triad.
